Q. Would you explain to me what this plan is about?
A. This program was designed to provide hospital and surgical benefits to APWU members as a supplement to their major medical insurance, and for those members who may not have medical insurance. The Basic Care Hospital Plan will pay a specific daily benefit if an insured person is hospitalized due to an injury or sickness.

Q. What are some of the benefits of this plan?
A. Some of the benefits are as follows:

  • Pays from the first day of hospital confinement
  • Pays scheduled surgical benefits, with a maximum of $2,500
  • Pays $25 per day for in-hospital physician visits
  • Pays benefits for anesthesia for surgery according to the policy
